Another July..…in Baltimore....at the Light

every year July is turning out to be our biggest outreach month for the Light. Our goal is to make every month our best month in terms of outreach. Nevertheless, with ArtScape (the largest free art festival in the US) falling on the month of July it is a great opportunity to reach out to a lot of people who we are trying to reach. We see thousands of people passing by our gallery over the weekend heading to the Artscape.

We used this opportunity this year to hand out 3,000 cold bottles of water, 1,900 business/church cards, 100 church art zines, 950 art show postcards and 500 promotional pieces concerning our church(buttons, magnets, etc). All this was done over a matter of a weekend with ¼ of the manpower that we had last year with the help of the mission teams.

We are so grateful to he FBC of Temple Terrace and the Church of the Hills for being with us. You are our friends and not just partners in ministry. THANKS AGAIN!!

This year instead of participating in the Artscape we decided to host our own Art event. We hosted our first city-wide themed art exhibit “meaning in the mundane”, an exhibit which included 14 Baltimore based artists (12 of which were non-members of The Light and non-Christians) showcasing work related to beauty in the everyday. The art show was coupled by two nights of live musical performances by two local bands. We had well over 300 people attend the art exhibition.

We were able to converse with hundreds of people during the entire weekend and many of the conversations became evangelistic in nature. We have already seen 15 visitors come to our church. The mission team members and the summer missionaries did a miraculous job as the hand of God multiplied our efforts. It was an amazing weekend.

It’s hard to believe that at the beginning of the month I was filled with so many worries…….with less than 1/4 of the help that we had last year and more work to do this year than last. I was very concerned as to how we were going to get it all done and what the impact was going to be.....However, when it was all said and done, we saw more fruit and did more this year than last. PRAISE GOD!!
